Dr Yongqiang Li is a Notary Public, Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia, and Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is also a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Notaries and a Fellow of the Victorian Society of Notaries.
Dr Li holds a Doctor of Philosophy, a Master of Public Policy and Management, two Graduate Diplomas (in Legal Practice and Financial Planning), a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education, a Bachelor of Laws, and a Bachelor of Applied Physics. His expertise spans corporate governance, intellectual property law, taxation law, wills and estate administration, family law, disruptive technologies, ESG governance, and the Belt and Road Initiatives. He has served in governance roles across both for-profit and not-for-profit entities.
An accomplished academic leader and PhD supervisor, Dr Li has successfully supervised 11 higher-degree research students (8 PhDs, 1 DBA, and 2 Masters by Research). He has secured multiple national and state-level competitive grants and serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Law and Governance Journal. He also acts on editorial boards and as a peer reviewer for various international journals.
Dr Li has chaired several international conferences, including serving as Co-President of the 2017 International Scientific Conference on Economic and Social Development. He has delivered over 50 customised guest lectures to senior policy makers and corporate executives across Australia and Asia on topics of law, policy, and university governance.
In addition, Dr Li serves as President of the Australia–China Scientists and Entrepreneurs Association and Deputy Secretary-General of the Asian Compliance Officers Association. He holds adjunct and visiting appointments at universities in China, India, and Australia as a Professor, Research Fellow, and Doctoral Supervisor. A native Mandarin speaker, Dr Li bridges cultures and disciplines through his commitment to education, innovation, and cross-border governance.
